Muga silk is the strongest fabric made. Muga is made from semi-cultivated silk worms that only live in the northeastern region of India. The caterpillars live in trees; when they emerge from the trees they are collected for the cocooning process.

Muga silk needs no dye – the natural golden color is produced by the wild silkworms. It is believed that this type of “yellow silk” was once the only fabric allowed to clothe the Chinese emperor.
